Gold Bar Recreation Area

June 13-17, 2012

Gold Bar Recreation Area was really neat!!!  It was located about 15 miles from Moab, Ut and had a personality of it's own.  (Sorry, more rocks!)  We were told while we were there that the new "Lone Ranger" film was going to be filmed in that area.  They also used an area not far from our campsite for the movie of "Thema & Louise" where they drove off of the cliff in the car together.

Our campsite was right next to the Colorado River.

There we are, in the lower left of the picture!!!

In the evening we would sit out and watch the air show...
bats came out of the caves looking for bugs.

We were next to the Corona and Bow tie Arch trail head.

The arches are in the upper right of the rocks.

Then there was the Indian Writings.....the sign says so.

When Indians do these pictures it is called "ancient art", when modern kids do it, it is called "graffiti".

We stayed at the Gold Bar camp spot for 5 nights for $20.00 (Senior Pass again)!!! Cheap living.

More things to see......off we go.

Until later....

Barb and Jim
