OFF ROADING WITH JERRY AND DEB

The other day we were invited along with our new friends, Jerry and Deb, to share their hobby…Off Roading in their Toy.  They have a 1974 Toyota Fj40 that is all decked out for some serious off roading!!!!

We had a blast.  Deb took out the back window and we had a spectacular view of where we came from.  Ha Ha.

MOON BEAMS AND RAINBOWS

As you have seen by most of the pictures we post, the sky here is just so blue and the sun shines a lot of the time.

Every once in a while we are treated to some pretty neat sights.

It had rained a bit one day and Jim caught this picture of a rainbow.

It went from one horizon to..

the other!!

 

And it got brighter.



One morning he caught this picture of the moon just before it set. (This is not our camper or truck).

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012

Wishing all of our family and friends a Happy New Year for 2012!!!!

We had another Desert neighborhood get together to ring in the New Year.  This get together was a bit different than all the others though.  Some of us got wasted (me)!!!!  And still couldn’t make it until midnight, while some did tough it out and managed to stay up and see the New Year in at Midnight.

Jim became the designated driver for the party….he drove everyone that was drunk home in the Golf Cart.

CHRISTMAS IN THE DESERT

Christmas time this year was a bit different for us….we are in the desert away from family.  However, we did get to see the grandchildren open their presents on Christmas day.  Cassie had set us up on Skype and we were able to be there that way.  Just a note: Kids get up awfully early on Christmas morning, there is a two hour time difference between Ohio and Arizona.  So we got up at 3:30AM to get the computer fired up so we could be there on time.  Isn’t technology great?

Christmas is Christmas and it wouldn’t be Christmas with out the Christmas lights.  Here are a few that we found in the area:

There are other main events that happen around Christmas for us, Jim and my anniversary and my birthday.  This year we celebrated each one separately with our new desert family.

We went to Grubstake house for our anniversary with Pat and Nick, and Jerry and Deb.  Jim and Jerry ordered the seafood sampler platters; needless to say they were stuffed puppies when they were done with that:

We had a bit of a sworay for my birthday.  We had to postpone if from the 23^rd to the 27^th.  It was very windy and cold on the 23^rd.  We had a great turn out on the 27^th.

TAMALE FESTIVAL- DOWN YUMA WAY.

On December 17^th we took trip down to Somerton, AZ, just south of Yuma, AZ for the 5^th annual Tamale Festival.  They expected 20,000 to attend and I think they were all in the same spot I wanted to be in also.

There was also entertainment for the day.

There were a variety of different tamales to try; standard- beef and chicken, a favorite - corn, specialties- green chilies w/cheese, as well as sweet tamales in pineapple, coconut, and apple caramel, just to name a few.  It was best to see which vendors were steaming their tamales on site, as they were fresher, than from the ice chest.
